Our Practice

Dr. Keith H. Kosakura

Dr. Kosakura graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor's in molecular and cell biology. He earned his O.D. degree from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1997. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Santa Clara County Optometric Society.

He has been in private practice at the current location for the past 12 years. Dr. Kosakura enjoys seeing patients of all ages and incorporating new technology into his comprehensive examinations. His interest in contact lenses and laser vision correction make him a wonderful resource for those with challenging cases or for those with questions regarding new technology. Having had laser vision correction himself, he enjoys co-managing Lasik cases and talking to you about his experience.

When not at the office, Dr. Kosakura enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 daughters.

Dr. Sheri Yamanishi

Dr. Yamanishi graduated from UCLA in 1990 with a B.S. in Microbiology and received her doctor of optometry degree from UC Berkeley in 1994. She enjoyed participating in VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) and LMV (Los Medicos Voladores) missions where vision services were provided free of charge to those in need. She has served as an examiner for the National Board of Optometry.

Dr. Yamanishi enjoys fitting contact lenses and doing general eye exams for children and adults. She knows that everyone is different and has different visual needs. She will do her best to provide the information needed for each individual to make decisions about their eyes and corrective system. She believes that the quote, "The wisest mind has something yet to learn," is a good representation of her thinking. The science behind the treatment of the visual system is constantly progressing and the best recommended treatment now can differ in the future. She tries to do her best to sift through information to make decisions based on what makes sense overall.

Dr. Yamanishi has a wonderful husband, daughter, and son (she's not biased) with whom she spends most of her time outside work. She enjoys traveling, SCUBA diving, biking, snow skiing and her job.

Practice History

The practice was started in 1968, by Dr. Ken Sakoda. He moved to the current location in 1997, where he was soon joined by Dr. Kosakura. Both shared the same philosophy of quality patient care and commitment to patient satisfaction. Dr. Sakoda fully retired in 1999 and is keeping busy with his many hobbies. Dr. Yamanishi joined the practice in 2001, and works on Saturdays.
